On November 4th, 2006 members convened for Local 577’s Triennial Convention at Laurier Senior High in Laval. Among the subjects covered at the convention were: the proposed budget for the next three years, the adoption of important changes to the Constitution and By-Laws and the election of a new Executive for the 2006-2009 term of office.
Outgoing President, Brenda Bernard, reported on Local 577’s first three years a a new Local and on the challenges facing us for the next three years.
Maria Cirino, SEPB-Québec representative for Local 577, presented and explained the constitutional amendments and Simon Berlin, Assistant Director of SEPB-Québec spoke to the delegates about the last three years at SEPB-Québec and the Canadian Union (COPE-SEPB), the recent SEPB-Québec Convention and objectives for the next three years.
Delegates thanked outgoing Executive members Brenda Leboeuf and Ginette Sauvageau for their contribution to the Local. Delegates also recognized the special contribution of Brenda Bernard who stepped down after many years as President of Laurenval, then Sir Wilfrid Laurier Unit; and as first President of Local 577.
The new Executive is composed of: Jack Fitch, President, Brenda Bernard and Alain De Souza, Vice-Presidents, Ian Wersnip, Treasurer, Susan O’Keefe, Secretary, and Lynda Wells, Arlène Beaulieu and Ralph Di Iorio as Trustees.
